Lose your life so you can find it

What are you living for?

We will lose ourselves to the things we are looking to save us. It may be “success”, the “perfect” body, a relationship, the dream career, wealth, fame, or even a stable trouble-free life. Whatever it is, if it’s not Jesus, it won’t and cannot save us. The freedom we need, the freedom we long for, true freedom can only be found in Christ. He alone can save our souls.

A life lived for Jesus, is a life fulfilled.

“Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:24-26

Will it cost you your life to follow Jesus? Yes,

Will you experience what it means to truly live? Yes

Counting the cost

After almost 18 years of following Jesus, I thought I had counted the cost of following Him. I thought I had left everything behind a long time ago to follow His voice. I felt like I’ve died thousands of deaths only to find myself fully alive in Him. But I find myself being invited by Jesus to sit down and consider these questions: “Are you willing to give up everything?” “Will you let go of what people think about you?” “Will you preach the Gospel in spite of persecution and rejection?” “If they don’t come with you, will you still follow me?”

The process has been hard. But the truth is, you and I, we can only live for one thing. We cannot love both God and this world. When our heart is divided, our lives will also be divided. And Jesus wants our WHOLE life. When we fully give our life to Him - this my friends is where true life begins. To be His disciple is our greatest joy and calling. Is it hard? Yes! We will lose everything this world has to offer? Possibly! But it is absolutely worth giving our whole life to the One who gave up His life for us!

Found in Jesus

There is no greater reward or higher honour than to follow and know Jesus. And if I lose everything for His name's sake and for the sake of the Gospel, I only gain more of Him. It is worth everything you are afraid of losing to follow Jesus. There is nothing that compares with the satisfaction of knowing Him. We give all to Him to know all of Him. He is worthy of everything.
